Dr Burdett spoke alongside an excellent line-up of speakers, discussing topics around improving the reliability of patient observations & ensuring quality of care to reduce failure to rescue of acutely ill patients on the wards. The conference included National Development and Case Studies highlighting the effective implementation of NEWS2 – the New National Early Warning Score.
In her presentation, Dr Burdett introduced Sensium; a discreet, wearable, wireless system for monitoring vital signs of patients outside of high acuity areas. Her presentation also outlined how the Sensium system can be integrated alongside routine assessments, enabling the convenience of eobservations to be combined with the reassurance of continuous monitoring. Her talk illustrated the potential benefits of continuous remote monitoring, presenting results from a recent randomised controlled trial focused on earlier identification of sepsis in a post surgical patient cohort.
