Sensium CEO Chad Bateman shares an open letter to colleagues, customers and friends.

Dear colleagues, customers and friends,

We have all been living and working in extraordinary circumstances, Sensium is no exception. This is a moment in time where the work we have been doing is at its most critical.  Sensium’s continuous vital signs monitoring system, which detects real-time patient deterioration, has been successfully set-up in several locations over the last few months. I want to take this opportunity to thank our customers, new and old, for working with us and ensuring their trust in Sensium. We are proud that customers have chosen to invest precious funds at this critical time, demonstrating the value of our product to them.

Over the past weeks and months, we have partnered with several hospitals, each one with a unique solution. We have worked with the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust to provide monitoring to travellers quarantined in hotels near Heathrow Airport, and have deployed Sensium hospital-wide in the Wrightington site at the Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust. In the Netherlands and France, the system has successfully been deployed in several new hospitals, most recently in St. Antonius and Ikasia hospitals (NL). Our proven track record in assisting in the adjustment of clinical pathways means that we are exceptionally well placed to help hospitals in these extraordinary times.

In the next few weeks, hospital systems will slowly start back up with planned care, while unprecedented waiting lists add to the pressure. There is a huge opportunity to utilize new systems and pathways to help ease this backlog.  With over 20 published peer-reviewed studies, showing clinical and economic benefits, we are uniquely positioned to enable the efficient delivery of planned care. Our system has been shown to decrease patient hospital re-admittance by 45%, and impact length of stay by 10% – this can result in savings of £700K for a standard ward according to our recent health economic publication.

I am extremely grateful for the efforts of the Sensium staff in providing our solution to customers. Our teams have done amazing work, delivering several large-scale deployments within 48 hours, and swiftly moving to virtual training and support. Covid-19 has impacted our world immeasurably and the post-Covid19 environment will be noticeably different. It will bring opportunities to innovate and support our healthcare systems and we are excited to continue to contribute to the future of healthcare.

Warm regards,

Chad Bateman, CEO
