Sensium®, a global pioneer in wireless, continuous vital sign monitoring, and Strategic Healthcare Connections LLC (“SHC”), a growth accelerator focused on innovative technologies, recently entered into a strategic relationship. By joining forces, SHC will help Sensium bring its innovative, life-saving technology (SensiumVitalsTM) into the US marketplace, where it has already received FDA 510(k) clearance.
In light of the recent Coronavirus crisis, the critical need for continuous and remote vital sign monitoring has been exposed and the long-term impact on the U.S. healthcare system is growing. With as many as 28.4M elective surgeries cancelled or postponed worldwide due to COVID-19, it could take some countries as many as 11 months to catch up.1 With demonstrated length of stay and readmission rate reductions, remote continuous monitoring can help hospitals effectively care for their patients and work through the backlog of planned care as efficiently and as risk-free as possible.
Improved monitoring regimes and early detection of deterioration is key to reducing this significant burden for patient, families, and healthcare providers. The Sensium patch provides accurate and continuous monitoring of the three key leading indicators of patient deterioration: heart rate (HR), respiration rate (RR), and axillary temperature.
“We are very pleased to be partnering with Strategic Healthcare Connections. Our collaboration will open the door for us to provide the value we have demonstrated in European hospitals to the U.S. healthcare system. Working with leading hospitals in Europe, we’ve developed a robust, easily integrated system backed by over 20 peer reviewed articles showing significant clinical and economic benefits. I’m confident that our partnership with SHC will enable us to bring the same value to the U.S., especially in light of the current issues that hospitals are facing.”, says Chad Bateman, Sensium CEO.
The leadership team at SHC has been bringing innovative solutions to the US healthcare market for several decades. “We believe in the strength of the Sensium platform and are delighted to be working with such a forward-thinking company,” says Frank Fortner, CEO of SHC. “In a previous role, I saw the life-saving impact early detection can make, as with sepsis for example. The continuous monitoring of patients by the Sensium smart patch means many more lives will be saved. For me, that’s what healthcare is all about.”
After several successful implementations in Europe, Sensium is ready to expand its customer base to include healthcare providers in the US. The partnership between Sensium and SHC is designed to accelerate this process by leveraging the SHC’s vast network and experience in bringing innovative solutions to the market.
